Do you remember the original Crossy Road From Hipster Whale? It seems to be a trivial arcade game, but in fact, it is an avowed hit with myriads of fans all over the world and more than 120,000,000 downloads.
Moreover, I was one of its fans. As a true admirer, I was playing this game unceasingly until I opened all figures. The news about a partnership of Hipster Whale Studio and Disney for creating the second part of Crossy Road stunned me! Bright colors of Disney and Pixar movies; new 8-bit worlds of Toy Story, Zootopia, The Lion King, Wreck-It Ralph and others; over a hundred well-known characters; endless adventures; tricky roads and much more.
Doesn't this sound exciting to you?
The Disney Crossy Road graphics is introduced in a colorful high resolution and not a boring standard appearance. However, not everybody likes these old-style blocky and pixelated graphics.
This game has nine marvelous worlds created on a number of classic and modern Disney and Pixar franchises. Each of these worlds not only uniquely styled but also has its set of obstacles and their various difficulty levels. Therefore, for each of the worlds, you will see a display of the separate top results.
Of course, each of the characters is implemented in a classic voxel style. These astonishing figures with new themes don't just change the graphics, but add little tweaks to the gameplay. Despite being a family-friendly game, the characters can be squished by cars, drowned, or attacked by enemies, but no worries for parents. It’s all done in a proper cartoony way, without any blood or violence. The character will elementarily turn to a pile of pixels that will not traumatize your children.
The Disney Crossy Road is an endless runner. For example, after crossing one road you get to another one, passing it, going further, facing a river, changing your way for one with the jumping wildebeest, one more road again, now you have to avoid falling barrels, switch the road one more time and so on. The idea of the game is to lead your character on an endless journey and see how far you can go before the inevitable happens and your character dies. Under inevitable, I mean a set of elements that will just like in real life try to stop you from reaching your goals.
The worlds you have to get through are pretty and differ as Andy’s room from “Toy Story”, Mickey’s neighborhood or even the frozen “Zootopia”. Each world contains a lot of unexpected obstacles and other features. For instance, in the world of Toy Story you need to avoid cubes and other dangerous objects that are rapidly flying right at you. Fortunately, this world is quite spacious, which helps to escape the difficult areas on the way.
On the roads of Zootopia long limousines hinder you, blocking the way forward and besides. Also, the weather there is snowy and a blizzard doesn’t allow you to see that much. So you will find something, for sure, to struggle with!
To start the game, you need to pick your character. At the top of the screen you will find a series of Disney and Pixar movie names. Slide them left or right, choose a movie, find a character that you like, explore the game scenario and enjoy it.
The gameplay requires from you to be fast and sudden in your moves or you can be hit by cars, trucks, trains, drawn in the water or something else will happen to you. To do that kind of moves, you just need to swipe quickly with your fingers in any direction and your character will move from side to side using little jumps. You can also tap wherever you like on an imaginary grid and your character will move straight ahead.
Replay Value 4/5
This game scenario with an excellent voxel style is eternal. As I used to do with the original Crossy Road, I’m able to play this game for some minutes as well as for some hours. It’s highly addictive and the sort of game you can’t stop playing at the beginning. But even so, after some time you have no more else to do apart from increasing your score. And if you’ve opened and explored all nine worlds, more likely you will lose any interest.
The monetization is simplified. It’s open to free players, but you can also buy any character that you would like with the real money or get them randomly from the characters machine where should be at least 100 coins.
All characters have different prices that vary from $0.99 to $2.99. So if you want to play your favorites figure, just earn some coins or spend few bucks.
If you have at least a little part of love in your heart for Disney, you must try to play this game undoubtedly.
One of the biggest game hits on the mobile Play Store could not leave any gamer indifferent. So no surprise that Disney partnered up with Hipster Whale to rise up a global hit one more time. I was a big fan of the original Crossy Road, so I found this version excellent too. If you've played Crossy Road as furiously as me before, new little tweaks in the next part will make you addicted again.You will get excited about finding out the features of all obstacles, opening new worlds, exploring them and beating your records for the distance you’ve already traveled.
Pros : views change according to your character;
Cons : the lack of goals: you play just to increase your score;
